Scimitar-Horned Oryx Hunting Information

If you are looking for Texas Scimitar-Horned Oryx hunting, Heart A Ranch is the perfect spot. These creatures are a member of the antelope family and are unique and beautiful. They have a white body with an area of tan on the neck and chest along with a spot on the nose and potential stripe down the back. Both males and females boast a pair of long, slender whipped-back horns that can exceed 40 inches in length. Weighing approximately 300-400 pounds, Scimitars are known to be the best-tasting exotic.

They originated from North Africa and are extinct in the wild. Scimitars are gregarious in nature preferring large open areas. They can go for months at a time without water and do not require large amounts of protein. Their gestation period can range from 8-10 months with birthing seasons peaking in October and March. Hunting of the Scimitar-Horned Oryx may soon require an additional permit.

The Heart A Ranch is home to a small group of free-ranging Scimitar-Horned Oryx antelopes. The Oryx have been part of the ranch for years with successful breeding. Oryx on the ranch are not hunted before the age of four. Call us if you are interested in Texas Scimitar-Horned Oryx hunting.
